What causes acute wry neck pain?

Wry neck can have several causes. The most common cause is a locked facet joint but it can be also caused by a cervical disc injury.Uncomfortable pillow, sedentary lifestyle, stress are in the common reported history, however onset of the wry neck is usually sudden.
