Osteopathy, fascia therapy for babies Giving birth is always difficult and challenging for the mother and for the babies as well, we recommend an examination by an osteopath doctor in the first six-eight weeks after birth. It is really important that the babies' musculoskeletal system would be working in a normal way in order to achieve the optimal development of movement .

Osteopath doctors are all graduated abroad, in USA, and in western Europe countries as in Hungary medica luniversity does not have such a postgradual course. The osteopath always does  a thorough musculoskeletal examination regarding articulation, muscle , soft tissue state and function . The osteopath also examines the fascia/connective tissues around the organs. It is very important as addressing the tension in the abdomen helped patients with musculoskeletal tissues such as lower back pain or groin pain. The reason is that the structures (fascia, connective tissues, ligaments connect the internal organs to the skeletal system. After the initial assessment the osteopath treats with manual therapy techniques. With hands on therapy the osteopath helps to reduce tension of soft tissues and of the muscles, helps to improve range of movement of the spine/joints and to increase the blood flow.

5 reasons to bring your child to an osteopath:

1.      Ifthere is any difficulty during breast feeding- Difficulties  to’breastsucking’ can be due to cervical and head movements restrictions. Osteopathy can help to release these structures making the breastfeeding more enjoyable.

2.      Common pediatric conditions –Usually babies show problems to the gastrointestinal tract. Osteopathy can help to resolve colic pains, reflux and eating disorders.

3.     If you notice flat parts on his head- Plagiocephaly is often due to the baby position during pregnancy or after birth. Osteopathy can help to rebalance the shape of the head releasing tensions around the neck and the head.

4.      If there is a closing of the lacrimal duct – Cranial shaping during normal child birth can create a problem on the normal flow of tears. Osteopathy can help releasing cranial tensions around the eye and promote a better health of the sight development.

5.      For an afterbirthcheckup– Delivery is physically challenging both for the mother and the baby. A  checkup within the first 6 weeks of life is strongly suggested to diagnose any mobility restrictions.

In fact we can say that the prevention is the key. If the osteopath can find early the slight dysfunction,or muscle imbalances within the body, the therapist can deal with the problem and the muscle balance can be regained  in time. Without any treatment, dysfunctions will create another dysfunction in the body, so the problem can be aggravated, for instance certain muscles that underwork will be compensated by other muscles.  This will lead to  a more complex compensation mechanism that will aggravate the pain/dysfunction or the muscle imbalances.
